Okay, what is your actual motivation here: your don't want a career in SAP or you want a more-fulfilling/future proofing career that gives you longevity and good prospects?
You mention that you would "forget about it" if you Basis experience no longer counts? Do you mean no longer counts for non-SAP development work or for a chance to re-enter SAP?
Things to consider in the SAP space (and by no means these should be reasons for you to stay)
- It is very hard to get a level entry position in SAP. You may have experienced a hard recruitment process with lots of competition amongst you peers. If you were fortunate to find a job immediately, considered yourself fortunate compared to some of the posts and questions we get from members in Careers, Training and Certification spaces
- First year in any job (SAP or other) will be "low hanging", repetitious work. It's all about learning and slowly stepping up to the difficult tasks. It is the same as you must crawl before your you walk and walk before you run. I suspect the same will be with development.
- SAP (as mentioned by others) does have an area of development and it is a growth market. HANA is a platform is and being marketed to be used with Non-SAP systems so it opens up a heap of other develop opportunities. Having a 1 year Basis could assist transition into SAP development as you understand system architecture and landscape. Also, monitoring performance logs and so on might help you appreciate why/how clean code should be written
- Leaving SAP market for a few years and returning later may be a bit difficult.Your training may become outdated and you will have competition. I am speculating here. You never know, your newly obtained skills may be complementary to a job back here (again, goes back to original question if you really want to work in SAP)
- SAP is changing quickly with new products all the time. Development is undergoing an overhaul and Integration of systems (including to non-sap) is challenging work. Basis is part of that.
But at the end of the day, if you do not want to work in SAP then your Basis experience is really work experience. You might be able to transition basis to other system administration roles in non-SAP products. However, if you truly want to become a developer then the focus should be on what language(s) you learn.
Why do you think SAP is "closed fenced" and what do you mean by this?

installation of sapcryptolib in AIX 6.1.0.0 issues
Hello all,
I am facing one issue in upgrading of sapcryptolib from 5.5.5c p132 to 5.5.5C p138.
The procedure i followed went successful 1 one of the systems wherin both sapgenpse command from OS level and as well as ICM trace file from SMICM reflected the new sapcrypto version
But in another system, sapgenpse shows the new version that i installed , but ICM trace file shows the earlier version only.
Plz note : I have restarted the ICM in both systems, but reflects the new version only in 1 system.
Both are AIX 6.1.0.0 systems.
I have checked all the paramaters, all are same in both the systems.
Can someone please help.

SWCV from SLD create new version
Dear Experts,
I want to confirm something about SWCV, as I read from this link:

It is stated that local SWCV is only for testing purpose. Does it mean that it cannot be transported to production? If I want to create a SWCV that is for production use, should I create the SWCV from SLD and import it?
Another thing is that, I already have this SWCV MyCompany v1, and there are already interfaces built in that SWCV. Now for the next release, I want to craete MyCompany v2. Will the interfaces in MyCompany v1 can still operating? Or it will overwrite/bring all the interfaces from v1 to v2?

Delete all entities of a collection in one statement
Hi All,
I have created a web service to create/Update product.
Product - Root entity
Features - Child entity ( 0..n)
In this I have to delete all child entities of relation Features and create new entities.
lv_feat = lv_product->get_related_entities ( relation_name = Features ).
while lv_feat is bound.
lv_feat->delete( ).
lv_feat = lv_features->get_next( ).
endwhile.
lv_bol_core->modify( ).
loop it_feat into wa_feat.
lv_product->create_related_entity( relation_name = Features ).
endloop.
There are more than 200 entities for deletion. And more than 300 entries for creation. This is taking lot of time( more than 10 sec ). How can I improve its performance?
Is there a way to delete all entities in one method call? I am aware of method CLEAR. I think I can't use this in web service. When I used CLEAR method, after executing the LOOP statement I could see both previous and newly created entries in the relation.
Please provide some suggestions.

Agent determination error
I am testing the workflow WS17900013 for an SAP delivered process and forms template via HRASR_TEST_PROCESS. The first error was 'Error when starting workitem..', Then further down the PROCESS_NODE I am getting the following error for rule AC17900012. The error says Structure 01 US BATCHUSER A208: No agent found.
I check the PPSS and see object US, user BATCHUSER, evaluation path A208 listed there.
I am not sure why it is erring out at this point.
Appreciate any advice on this.

Credit Limit and Credit Term
Dear All,
I have problem to ask everybody opinion. It is mandatory field for credit term (XD03) and credit limit (FD32) in Finance area. What is the impact if these credit limit and credit term we put blank? It is impact to view the ageing later? My user ask me to make unlimited for the option of credit limit and credit term? It is possible for me to do? Because now what can I do is for credit limit is 999,999,999 and credit term is maximum up to 180 days?
Kindly help me. I have urgent meeting with the user today.

Hi Anurag,
You don't need to specify the port number when adding SAP HANA system. Just input the host name, instance number -> Select "Multiple containers" -> Input the name of the tenant database container -> Next -> Input the username and password -> Finish.

The installation of the Renovated Learning Portal 'Portal' iview is different is how youd do it for the old BP for Learning iview. The installation for the new PFCG Role based Portal BP is detailed in 1685257.
This step is an installation step of the Learning Portal iview. This is not the step to make it appear in the tabs/roles.
To make it appear in the tabs/Roles, you ask your Portal consultant to configure the Learning iview into a Role/workset whatever and assign the portal role to your Portal user account for you to test.

Generating MSMP might have resolved the issue cos most probably after selecting approve by email or maintaining some setting you might not have activated the MSMP version.

Multiple IdPs along with SAP Id Service
Dear All,
My usecase is to use a third party idP for certain users and the default SAP Id service for some others. The application knows when to use what. To achieve this I configured the third party IdP in the trusted IdP section. However I don't find the option to have the SAP Id service together with this. Is there a possibility to configure the SAP Id service the same way you define a third party IdP? If yes, how do I get the metadata file? Or is there a simpler way to always have the SAP IdP?
As per the documentation, when you have multiple IdPs, you could choose by using the parameter saml2idp, as follows.
https://<app name>.hana.ondemand.com/index.jsp?saml2idp=<idp name>
Where do I get the <idp_name> from? Is it the name that you find in the metadata file (which is a URL!)? . And could there be a special value for the SAP Id service?

Is the MAP you want to show is a picture ? If yes, upload the picture to SAP through transaction SE78.
In smartform, you can upload it as a logo. Create->Graphic and mention the details of picture loaded in SE78

If the Table RC29P is included in View I will need a join condition between both the tables. But there are no common fields for the Join in both the tables.
Regarding enhancing the table, we are unable to enhance the database table due to security reasons.
